MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS.

NOMINATED CANDIDATES,

Nominations for the mayoralty and council;elections and also for-borough , representatives on the Waitaki Hospital < and Charitable Aid Board closed yesterday at noon,: The posting of'the list by the returning officer "(Mr £ W. Kent) created.very little interest, Only three of the candidates and a very small gathering of electors were present. For the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board only the required number of candidates were nominated, and they were th i», fore declared duly elected. The con test for the council, however, promises to be keen. Three candidates including the retiring Mayor, offer their services for the mayoralty, while for the twelve councillors required there are eighteen I nominations. ; The poll -which will be taken on Wednesday next the 25th 1 iust.j is officially announced in to-dav's issue, the polling being at the Wenstreet Hall, the North School and the South School, Following are the names of the candidates nominated:-.* FOR THE MAYORALTY.
