' APPEAL'BY MR VEITCII. .The importance of national- unity was etmphasiscd by Mr W, A, Yeitcli, M.P., at the luncheon to: the Parliamentary party at Dcvonport yesterday, .He was-sorry, lie said, that there were men in New Zealand who cared nothing for their King, country, or national aspirations, There were men who 'said they would not go to the war,' but men who were protected by the State should be prepared to fight, Somepeople said only volunteers should be sent to the front, but was it only volunteers who enjoyed the protection of the State'! Our soldiers did not need barrackers, and men who were fit-to fight must go, wliether wijling or not. • The speech was received with cheeks.
