'DRIVERS' AWARD.

DISSATISFACTION IX AUCKLAND

(I'cr Press Association,) j AUCKLAND, November 10. j Expressions of sympathy and, support respecting' the Drivers' Award cojitimic to lie received by the Driverj' ,Union from other trades 'ami organisjilions. Two more resolutions were rewarded to-day from the Auckland Tailors' Union and Auckland Timber Workers' Union respectively. It is understood that'the action of the Auckland Abattoirs and Freezing Works employees in withdrawing, their case from the Conciliation Council on Thursday was taken as a protest against the Arbitration Court 's liuding in the Drivers' Award.

Inquiries go to-show that though there is 110 satisfaction wi'li the work done by 1 the Conciliation Council, it is probable that other cases may be withdrawn to strengthen the protest. The resolution passed by Mie Tailors' Union was as follows: "That this union expresses its astonishment at the award given by the Court of Arbitration in the Auckland Drivers' dispute. We consider that the conditions laid down by the court are unjust, and not iu keeping with the conditions laid down by the Court in other trades. We therefore urge the Government ',O set up a board of inquiry lo actertain why special treatment should be handed out to this .body o'f workers. Further, we pledge ourselves to support in* tiieir endeavours- to vi-niilare fheir grievance, and call upon all other unions to do likewise." The resolution of the Timber Workers' states: That this union tenders sincere sympathy to the Auckland Motor' Car and Horse Drivers' Union on its failure to receive justice at the the hands of the Arbitration Court, after waiting patiently and putting forward sucli a strenuous tight. We feel that the award just delivered reflects no credit on the court, and that it will I'imain a disgrace to organised labour if it is inactive and fails to stand by the carters in their time of need, further we pledge ourselves to support the drivers of this Dominion in whatever eflorts they deem necessary to better their pay and conditions. 'United we stand, divided wo fall' can safely be applied to this particular case. . We therefore call upon organised labour throughout New Zealand to stand by the drivers to help to remedy their longstanding grievances." ••
