EARLY CLOSING OF HOTELS.

J, Peacock (Premier) announced' the abandonment of the referendum on ' the earlier closing of the hotels, as it would clash with the conscription issue. He said the Government proposed to adopt direct legislation iu place of the referendum, BRISBANE, September o.' In the Legislative Council, Mr Hamilton said the Government had received a request from the War Minister, to take action in the matter of the early closing of hotels.
