The Rev. J, J. Xortli. who has been on a visit to Oamaru in connection with the celebration of the Baptist Church anniversary, returns to Christchurch bv the first express this morning. At the annual meeting of the New Zealand Chess Association, held in Wellington on Saturday, Mr J. B, Dunlop (Oamaru) was ejected vice-presi-dent of the Lower Division. • The conference of the Secondary Schools Assistants' Association held in Wellington yesterday elected the following officers: President, Mr T. Brodie (Wellington); vice-president, Miss Grisson (Christchurch); executive committee, Messrs Eockcll, Clifford, and Malum.
