AKAWA AT AUCKLAND. (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, September 3. The Arawa, with returned wounded ami invalided soldiers, arrived at 4,30 on Sunday afternoon. The returned men were accorded an enthusiastic reception as they proceeded from the steamer to a large shed on the wharf, where they were formally welcomed by the Mayor.

Major Henderson, acknowledging the cordial welcome, said their only regret was that they had not seen the iiuish of hostilities. The men, he said, looked forward to returning for that purpose. The invalided men living in the south will depart by the noon express to-day. Tho Government has received a tolcgrain to the effect, that the hospital ship Marama left the United Kingdom on August 31 st, carrying the following Australians: JO officers and 321 men;l N(jw Zcalandcrs; 14 'officers and 140 men; South Africans: - men. The vessel is due to arrive in New Zealand about October 20th.
