CHAMBER-OF COMMERCE RESOLUTIONS.

CARRIED BY CANTERBURY CHAMBER.

CHRISTCHURCII, August- ,31, At the annual meeting of the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce: to-day, oil the subject of the recent conference wijh the Board of Trade in reference to' post-war trade, Mr 11, J. Marriner, for the chamber's sub-committee, moved:— ■■

'"That there be reciprocal prefereutial trading relations between all parts of the British Empire, "That there be reciprocal trading relations.between the British Empire and the Allied countries,

"That neutral countries be given favourable treatment.

"That trade relations with enemy countries be restricted by tariffs and otherwise, so as to render 'dumping' or a return to pre-war conditions impossible.

"Thai slops betaken to obtain legisln(ton making it illegal for enemy subjects Io hold real or personal property, to trade, or tq hold shares'or any other interest in joint stock companies trading in New Zealand.

"Thai no cargo to or from New Zealand bo allowed to bo carried on vessels owned or partly owned by enemy subjects, and that no such vessel be coaled or provisioned in any New Zealand port.

"-Tha't no enemy subject be permitted io enter this Dominion, and that all enemy subjects at present in this Dominion be denaturalised."
