Arrangements have been made by the Railway Department whereby employees who arc desirous of subscribing to the war loan may make, their payments by instalments. In a circular issued by the General Manager (Mr E. Hilcy) this is- explained:—"With a view to enabling members-of the railway sfaff to subscribe towards the loan now being raised by,the New Zealand Government for war purposes, arrangements have been made by which members of the railway service can pay the amount they elect to invest in the purchase of Government war loan certificates by instalments, which will be deducted from their pay in the same manner as the superannuation deductions are now made. The minimum amount payable in respect of each war loan certificate will be at the rate of one shilling per week, for each sixteen shillings to be invested." Members who desire to participate in the scheme have only to fill in a form specifying the amount they desire to invest and the number of certificates they wish to purchase on the deferred payment system, and authorising the department to deduct from their pay a specified sum each four-weekly period, first deduction to be made for four weeks ending October 14,-1016, and last deduction on January (>, 11117. All war loan certificates purchased in terms of this proposed arrangement, will be obtained by the Department and held in trust until payment of instalments has been completed by the member. In cases where more than one. certificate isi obtained a certificate will be forwarded to the purchaser on his completion of each payment of .IBs.
