The induction of the Rev. Alex, Watson, who has accepted the call to the charge of the Weston-Totara Presbyterian Church, will take place at the Weston Church on the afternoon of Thursday, 7th September, at 2.30. The Rev. .1. A farewell was tendered by a number of friends to ■Private W. Todd, at his residence, Cross stveef, on Tuesday evening. The early part of .the evening was given up to euchre and games, which were interspersed with musical items. On behalf of those present Mr H. A. Gilbert presented Private Todd with a luminous-faced wristlet w,atch, a fountain pen,, case of pipesj cigaretteholder, and a wallet, as tangible expressions of the goodwill and esteem of his friends, and with every good wish for his safe return. Private Todd's health was drunk to, the, accompaniment of musical honours, During tb]e evening items were contributeed by Mrs G. Todd, Miss.L. Badeley, and Messrs May, Stewart, and Vernor (songs), Messrs Vernor and Badeley (recitations), whilst Miss Badeley acted as accompanists Refreshments were provided, and the proceedings concluded.with the singing of the National Anthem and "'Auld Lahg Svne."
