MEETING OF TRUSTEES. A meeting of the North Otago Sol- 1 fliers' Fund Trustees was held in the . Waitaki Council Chambers on Saturday/the (•hairman, Mr',T, M. Forrester,' , presiding.' An apology for absence was received from Mr T: A.fMunro. • : .The resolution carried at a summary meeting to take up -£9OO in war loan certificates was confirmed. The Gisborne Patriotic Society wrote with reference to supplying badges to Returned Soldiers', 'Associations. It was.resolved to inform the Gisborne .Society that this was a matter left en-' Rifely; sneh associations, but that re- ' presentation should be made to the Government with the suggestion that the Government take steps to prevent the indiscriminate issue of such badges. : ' , ' •The' Department of Internal Affairs , wrote acknowledging the, receipt of £IOO, July.-n.nd August donations to ex- • tra comforts for soldiers. . The secretary of the Advisory Board, of New Zealand War Relief wrote intimating that. exemption on ' .stamp duty;, on receipts given by or to . any war,-fund was now granted in re ; ,. spect of moneys paid into or out of that fund under the Finance' Act of 1916. The Minister of Defence (the Hon'. 'Jas. Allen), wrote that' Cabinet had decided to extend the provision with re- : spect to the widowed mother whose unmarried son is her sole support, to include: a married son.
