PUBLIC WORKS MONEY.

MINISTER TO CONSULT LOCAL '; BODIES. WELLINGTON, August 25; No new money was provided on the Public' Works tliis year, aud' the votes made by Parliament wore simply for money already promised but not yet expended. The Minister of Public Works made this promise to local bodies: That, although moneys were voted for certain specific works,' he would consult with them as to whether they desired to have the money spent on those, works or on others they might name. It is conceivable that in the meantime, other works have become more urgent, and if so, the local bodies are to have the opportunity, of using the'money on the works they consider most urgent. In order to consult with local bodies all over New Zealand, the Minister Is going to make a tour of the whole 'Dominion, This tour will occupy about two mouths—one month in each island. Mr Eraser has not yet definitely decided his itinerary, but he is first going round the North Island. iiijiui i iiiaiiiiiiiH naißiaaimnnmni
