The tremendous part that liquid file", is playing in the war must make obvious the great importance of encouraging the production of home produced fuel. Although we arc at present able to obtain all we require from outside sources, this may not always be the case, and the fact that they are outside sources should be sufficient argument that a home produced motor spirit is, for the future, an absolute necessity. We cannot look to benzole in war time, as that is required in the manufacture of high explosives, and there are limits to the amount which can be made available, But there is alcohol, and though all that the distilleries are now ranking is also required for'war purposes, there is no limit to tho amount Hint it is possible to produce if the Government is prepared to remove the excise restrictions and encourage its use as a, motor fuel.
