ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES

■ CHRISTCIIUKCJI, August-2.1. The death occurred at the Hospital at 8 a.m. yesterday of William Boyee, who sustained injuries on Wednesday last when watching the Sixteenth Reinforcements' pass through- Cathedral, Square by- tripping oVer a bicycle and falling heavily. An impiest was opened at the hospital and adjourned. Aii adjourned inijiiest was held yesterday on the body of William Rutherford Patterson, who was found in an unconscious condition by the railway at Papanui on the I,'itli iiist,, and died a few days later in the hospital. Several witnesses deposed to meet tug the. deceased on the day in question, when lie was perfectly sober, and one of them, who went up by the .10.4,1 p.m. train lo Belfast, last saw deceased in a carriage at Iticcarton. The verdict was that deceased met with is death owing to a frill from a train, but there was no evidence to show how the accident occurred. • Another adjourned impiest was held by Mr 13ailey oil the body of a man, name unkiiownli which had been found in a backwash of the AV'aimakariri al Chancy's. Joseph Chancy gave evidence as lo linding the body. ])r Westerns, said that the body was Imi decomposed to admit of identification, but there were no marks of violence or fractures of the brines. The Coroner returned a verdict of found drowned. i
