The distance was fifteen yards,: the bull's eye being the plain black dot,the full black nine of the ordinary tar-, get being dispensed with, The tight provided by Kniield team .was excellent.; .Enfield,after an exciting and close contest, won by four points, the shooting of both .teams is a local record, EnlieHl; scoring an average of 49.2, aud Oamaru: an average of 45.8 out of 50. Bitfield's, win by four points, was not only superlative shooting, but.jvas earned in the only way that such matches can bi) wou, by constant and painstaking practice in face of all drawbacks. A day's work in (lie,country is,apt. to leave one-dis-. inclined to come out at night,' but Enfield Rifle Club has put in .regular attendance at practice. ■ A score of 49, exclusive of those mentioned, was counted out,.
