LORD LANSDOWNE'S APPEAL SUBSCRIPTIONS INVITED, In response to a request as the outcome of last night's public meeting, hold to re-consider ways and means of responding to the urgent appeal sent to the whole Empire by Lord Lnnsriowne on behalf'Of the needs of the British Red Cross Society, we very readily open our columns for the purpose of such an appeal. The sacred cause of the Red Cross needs no stressing, and nothing that can be said will add one whit to the glory of that service, or make' the universal debt under which the. whole nation has been placed by the self-sacrificing labours of the members of that society, a more urgent obligation, Any contributions received by us for the above fund will be duly 'acknowledged in ami forwarded to the proper authorities.
