KUROW NOTES.

(From Our Own Correspondent)

At the invitation of the Kurow Patriotic Farewelling Committee a large crowd assembled at Monro's Hall to say ifiiiwcll to Messrs. Connor, Keogli, Pii•l'oot, and Evison. The chairman, Rev, 'II. Sliolto Bishop, in a few words of welcome to the audience expressed his satisfaction at so large an attendance. The proceedings started with the National Antlini, which was followed by an'excelle;it programme of vocal and instrumental items, as well as by several recitations; dances were mingled with song, and the evening went all too quickly. At the conclusion of the programme the chairman, in a speech of intense patriotism, eulogised those who had' already gone, as well as their departing guests, and presented each of the latter with an inscribed luminous-faced 'wrist-, let watch, on behalf of the residents, wishing thorn God-speed mid a happy return at the termination of the war. One of those leaving (Mr Q, E, Evison) had been the secretary of the committee since its inception, and the members deemed it a.privilege to give him a small gift before he left. A beautifully made medal was procured'and inscribed. with his haipe, and stating that if was a token of esteem from the. committee. The chairman made the presentation to Mr Evison, and said that it afforded him much satisfaction to do so; Mr Kvison was an ideal secretary and would be missed by the committee, but it was a matter of keen satisfaction to all that he had offered his services to his country, and it should be an incentive to others to go and do likewise. A bountiful supper was handed round, after which dancing became gonera) and was kept up until the small hours.

. Much credit is due to the catering and musical snb-committecs for their work, also fo Mrs McGregor, Miss Smith, and iliss Miniro for accompanying, and to Messrs Denscm, Walker,' Cudmore, Martin, and McGregor, and-Misses Condon, Smart, and McGregor for songs; to Miss Bishop and ill- Pearson for recitations; also to those who so willingly played dance music, thus making, the evening thoroughly enjoyable,
