FOUND DEAD IN BED.
DEATH OF CJI HI STCJI UIiCH CHEMIST. (J'it l'niss Association.) CI IJ? ISTUJ-I Uit CJ-l, August 21. At an inquest on the body of Edward Creighton Kirk, a chemist, of Colombo street, a single man aged .'Hi years, Walter Fain-lough. dentist, slated that he found Kirk dead in bed this morning. Witness found ;i bottle labelled ivitli the name of a deadly jjoison, 'and a tumbler on the duchess chest, three yards from the bed. The body was completely covered by the bedclothes. Witness was an intimate friend of deceased's family, and wished to have a postmortem examination so as to clear up the cause of death. The Coroner said witness was quite right in asking for a postmortem. He understood the effects of this poison were very rapid, and if the bottle of poison were found three yards from the bed, it seemed extraordinary, if deceased committed suicide, that lie could have got back to his bed and covered himself with the bedclothes. The Cproner ordered a- postmortem and adjourned the inquest.
