MONTHLY MEETING.

The monthly meeting of the North Otago A, and P. Association was held in the Waitaki County Council rooms yesterday afternoon. There were present Messrs J. Mahoney (Chairman), H. A, Dovcy, O. Brownlcc, J. S. Anderson, J. Buckley, G. Bruce, J. Cowan, A. Gillies, G. Ilarvcv (Oamaru), G. llarvcy (Weston), J. Hcdlcy, T. S. Little, J. R. Mitchell, W, MacAulay, P. Martin, J. G. McDon-

ald, J. O'Brien, and W. P. Reid. Apologies for absence wero received from Messrs R. Gillies, Livingston, Mcl'herson, and Duff.

Accounts amounting to £ll2s lid were passed for payment. At a special meeting held before the general meetiug the new regulations embodied in the schedule were confirmed and were now placed before the meeting for adoption. With regard to rule <! in the general regulations, Mr Buckley moved that the'words" must have been the property of the exhibitor for one 'month prior to the show,"be deleted. After some discussion, participated in by Messrs Hcdly, Gillies, amlßrownlee, Mr Buckley agreed that owing to the fact that lambing was earlier iu the 'northern districts, the words previously mentioned should only apply to fat sheep and lambs, and not other kinds of stock, as to permit the exhibition of purchased from other centres would 'create unfair competition for loc'alvjljccflbris.: He was willing to include this agreement in his amendment which was.carried on the voices. ' On the motion of Mr Brownlee a hearty vote of thanks was accorded to the various committees for their willing work. On the motion of Mr Buckley it was decided to forward the following resolution to the Minister of Agriculture:— "That the Association protests against the action of the Poods Commissioner in fixing the prices of wheat at Is !>d and llour at £ll 15s instead of us 3d and £l3 respectively." Several applications for the work of catering for refreshments at the forthcoming show were referred to tlio Refreshments Committee. The secretary of the Waitaki High School wrote asking for'the use of the show grounds for the forthcoming school sports.—Granted, subject lo the usual conditions. . The Department of Industries and Commerce wrote asking the Society to place before exhibitors the. question of

photographing their best stock, and their homesteads, for exhibition iu the Department's Pavilion at the San Francisco Exposition—Received. . The Chairman's action. in granting the use of the ghow ground for the annual camp, of the B Squadron, sth Mounted. Eifle3 was approved. The railway arrangements for the show were referred to tLe Railways Committee; to which were added Messrs Gillies and Cowan, The secretary was instructed to Write to the 10th Regimental Baud asking them to supply music for the show on the same terms as last year. It was. stated that-judges had been obtained for all the various sections. The list of stewards and officials was revised, and the following alterations were made, the other, officers retaining their previous positions:—Mr R. C. Gillies, chief marshal, in place of Major 11. S. Orbcll; thoroughbred and all light hacks and hunter classes, Mr St. J. Buckley, marshal, in place of Mr Mahoncv; Lincoln classes, Messrs J. G. Macdoiiald and J. S. Anderson, added to stewards; pig classes, Mr Mahoney replaces Mr Anderson ns steward; Ayrshires, Mr J. S. Anderson replaces Mr Mahoney as steward. Mr J. R. Mitchell was re-appointed as Marshal for sheep classes. Messrs J. Smith (Kauroo Hill), (J. Ruddenklau, J. Mason, and ,1. Nicholson were elected members of the Society.

The meeting of the Refreshments Committee was fixed for next Saturday, and the business closed with a vote of thanks to the chair.
