BOYS' HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS.

The elements consented to behave themselves well yesterday, no doubt In honor ol the "Governor's vtelte.wtf for the. celebration of the Waltaki Boys' High School annual Bporls. "Mens sana in corpore sana" is a motto which, at Waitaki, is evidently kept well in the forefront, and, both by precept and example, is being constantly instilled intoiho minds of tho toys, Particularly where the mental soil is so oxcollent, where the mind 1b so young, elastic and plastic, tho -splendid qua'Aty ot the seed sown cannot, In the future, fail to realise a fruition of which we venture to predict tho Dominion as a whole will be Justly proud. However, tho "earthlytaber-'nacle"-the sound and healthy Jjody, in mar.y cases trained to the minute, was greatly In evidence. The splendid physique and excellent stamina of the boys was, in the long programme of events yesterday, put to a severe test, but they apparently, one a od all, ; came through the ordoal with flags flying, showing very low signs of distress after a somewhat gruelling day. Where all performed so excellently it seems almost .invidious to single out anyone for special mention. In the Junior events, however, young Dimlek, at present a somewhat diminutive little athlete, should have a big future. He has plenty of pace, a fine stride, and evidently a good supply • <■ "second wind." In the Cup c o i petitions R. M'Gimptey (26 pointwho was champion last year, agni topped the poll, H. S. B.
