DARING BURGLARY.

Per Press Association. Grcymouth, May 28, A daring burglary was committed at Otirn on Wednesday night, when the railway station was entered by the window and the safe, which contained £sl in notes, gold nnd silver, ami 43(1 in cheques, was blown open by dyna-, mite, and the amount stolen. It appears that tho building was entered by breaking tho catch of tho _ window facing tho platform. The thiovci ha'-l evidently well planned, the affair, and it is surmised that the key hole of the safe, which is a " Milncr," war plugged with gelatine-, and a detonator with fuso attached. The keyhole- was then covered with moss, and the whole smothered with 'damn clay, and then mnil bags, which were lying in the office, piled in front oi tho door and inslcnod down in a fashion with an iron bar or brake handle, The fuse was evidently then lit, with the result that the safo was very little damaged, with tho exception of the loci:, which ffftS smashed into atoms, and the front cap blown oft'. This accomplished, the burglar had only to turn the handle and the spoil was his. As soon as t-liCi news was received in Grcymouth a special train was at onco despatched, conveying Detective Campbell, a constable and Mr Ashley, Traffic Manager, On the way up several swaggers wcr« met with, being mostly Australians. The train was stopped on each _ occasion, but in every caso n satisfactory explanation was given, and the men allowed to proceed. On arrival al Oliro the police took every- precaution to secure all available evidence, . On one pane of glass finger prints were disccrnnblc, which may materially asti-it in bringing tho culprit to justice,
