Millar has been town to the fact by Wellington coal dealers that tho Statq Coal Department has been delivering coal on tho statutory balHiolWay, whereas ihey aro bound by the Arbitration Act award to observe a weekly Mf-holiday on Saturday, to* ing the day selected. In reply too Minister, forwards a. letter to Mr Pryor, secretary of tho dealers'-Asso-ciation from tho Hon, J.-M'Gowan, in whioh It is stated that enquiries have been made into the eomplaint, and be continued: "J have to state, tint I find that the carts were used on Saturday, 4tH September, under great pressure from families in wMch sickness prevailed, the local supplies having rp short owing to bad ■' weather on the Wost Coast.
