TECHNICAL CLASSES EXHIBITION.

An exhibition of work in connection with these classes and a concert in aid of the funds of the Association were held in the Drill Hall last evening, and attracted a satisfactory number of the public, who evinced a great deal of interest iii the work shown and the practical demonstrations given, A word of commendation,is first of all due to the members of the electrical class for the arrangement of the lights on the stage. A myriad of little lamps of different colors were provided, and produced a pretty effect. On tables on either side of the hall were arranged the exhibits, all of which showed excellent worKnit/iiship. Sections were devoted to the demonstration of plumbing (jointing pipes and gutter work), dressmaking (a good show, principally from the country classes), and of woodwork. The latter comprised a large number and variety Gf very neat articles, which were examined with a great deal of interest. There were a model roof, modci stairs, picture frames, chests of drawers and a few specimens of chip taiving. An electrical plant was snown, and occasioned a.great deal of comment. Among the articles on the stage were an electrical radiator, lent by the National Electrical Company, and cooking apparatus, lent .by Messrs Turnbull and 'Jones, These were exhibited in operation with interesting results. The concert arranged for by the Committee "/as carried through without a hitch,and—more—with complete success from every point of view.The Oaraaru Garrison Band, > after playing outside for a few minutes, opened the programme with a selection. The items that followed were: Glee, " The Cuckoo," by Glee Party; song, " To-morrow will be Friday," MrF, G. Williams (encored;; long, " 1 d'earned a dream," by Mrs Batson (encored); song, Mr J. Buileid, "I'll sing the songs of Arabv " (encored); song, "My little child,'" by Mrs H. J. Davis (encored) ; and the first part was concluded with mi exhibition of clubs'jringinq by Mr Hyland, the ends of the clubs being illuminated with very pretty effect by electric lights of changing colors. During the interval opportunity was taken,by those present to inspect the work on view, after which the second part of the musical programme was commenced by Miss E. Hood and Mr F. C. Burry, who gave as-a pianoforte duet, '• March Hongroise." The ensuing numbers were: Duet, "Very suspicious," by Mrs Batson and Mr A. Lucas; song, " A Rose in Heaven," by Mrs Kerr (encored); song, '• Fdr all days," by Mr F. 0. Burry (encored); song, "Astbore," by Mr 11. J. Davis .(encored); glee, " Spring song," by Glee Party, The progr amine was brought to a conclusion with an exhibition of cooking l.'V electricity, which was conducted'by Mr W. Wilson, B.Sc, the Association's instructor in that subject. During the evening Mr T. Williamson announced the names of those who wcie successful in the cxamina-j lions at the close of the last term, mentioning, at the same time, that the certificates would be handed to the winners later on.
