The Gambling Bill is making slow progress in the Assembly, and there is practically no chance of its passing before Cup day, No warships being available for the puipose the Government asked the West Australian Government to despatch a steamer in search of the dredge Walrus, overdue from Durban, being out 79 days. The Walrus cariied |uovisions for 60 days only Her crew numbers 23, including several Victoiians. The search steamer will leave Perth to-morrow morning. Mr Dea'iin has also communicated with South Africa in the matter.
