Timaru v, Oamaru,

The annual fixture between the above clubs was played off on Saturday, resul* ting in a win for the Oamaru Club by 16 games. In the ladies' singles Miss Revell (Timaru) proved too strong foi her opponent, Miss Taylor, beating her by 7 games to 5, The order being reversed in the second ladies' singles, when Miss Gilchrist (Oamaru) beat Miss Tennent (Timaru) by 7 games to 3. The men's doubles, between Lynch and Didsbury (Timaru) and M'Lean and Newton (Oamaru) proved the local men the stronger pair, In the second men's doubles'Revell and Rowley (Timaru) against Spain and Sumpter (Oamaru), tho former oarao out victorious by 1 game, after an exciting tussle, The ladies' doubles, although unfinished through laok of time, proved to bo one of the most interesting games of the day, the local players winning by one gamei A sumptuous luncheon was provided on the ground by the lady members of the olub, and afternoon tea was kindly given by Mrs Whitton and the Misses Gilchrist.
