BRASS BANDS CONTEST.

New Plymouth, December 1, The forthcoming brass band contest, to bo held here next year, proaiswto be a great success. Nineteen bands have been nominated, and sixteen entrios hare been received. This consti* tutes a record for New Zealand, and other three (Oamarn, Nelson, and Westport City) entries maybe to 1 hand by the incoming mail, The bands entered are: Granity Creek Brass (West Coast), Donniston (West Coast), Thames Navals, Waihi Brass, Ruahine Battalion, Masterton Municipal, PalneratoaNwtb, Petono Brass, Wellington Garrison, Wanganui Garrison, Dnnedin Navals. North East Valley (Dnnedin), HauraltiBrass (Thames), Kaikorai (Dnnedin), Gisborue Brass, and Taranaki Garrisoi, Already considerable interest is rnanU tested in contest matters throughout the whole distriot, and with the into ol visitors from other parts of the oolenya. reoord gatheriig may be expeoted during the contest week.
