To hold a steel knitting needle between the teeth relieves the smarting of the oyes caused by peeling onions, according to a scientific paper. Probably, also, to hold an onion between the teeth will relieve the smarting of the eyes caused by excessive use of knitting needles. A comp. took it upon himself to improve ono ot the rhymes in Watson's sonnet to the Queen. It would bo a queer comp. who didu't know more than a poet. Mr M'lver, one of tho directors of tho Great Western Railway, making a prosenlation at Liverpool the other day to tho district goods manager, Mr Steele, said the Great Western had 2500 miles of rails, employing 52,000 men, had a weekly revenue of L 200,000, and a subscribed capital of over L 80,000,000, all yielding dividend*!.
