Melbourne, January 16. An influential deputation of thePresbjr« terian Assembly drew the attention of Mr Turner (the Premier) to the influence the French were gaining in the New Hebrides, and the actiqn of French traders in oarryiug on a business in fire« arms and liquor. They urged that the nutter be considered at the meeting of tho Federal Council. Mr Turner promised to bring the matter under the notice qf tho Council.
