Received August 20, at 10.25 a.m. New York, August 19. Owing to the explosion of a boiler the Gutnry Hotel, Den top, was destroyed. The debris ciught fire, and the flames, spreading rapidly, rendered rescued impossible, and 40 people lost their lives. The origin was a defect in the boiler.

Zanzibar, August 19. Admiral Riwson, General Matthews, and a force stormed Miveti, near Momb%aa. Ten Europeans, including three officers, were wounded. Berlin, August 19 A steamer collided with a boat on the Elbe, near Falknethol. Seventeen were drowned.
