COMMERCIAL. STOCK AND PRODUCE SALES.

Mr E. P. Burbury (on behalf of the Now Zealand Lout) and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited) reports on tho fortnightly stock sale as under : Sheep.—There wan a small entry of sheep at tho Junction Yards yesterday, and prices wore on a par with those ruling at last sale. We cold aa follows : 3 magnificent hoggetu in tho wool, at 17s ; 59 fat 4, 0 and 8-tooth owes and whethers (shorn), at Us; 20 fat 4 and 6-tooth half bred wethers (shorn), at 10s lOd ; 13 fat crossbred ewea (shorn) at 10a 2d. Hoggets off the shears arc meeting with good enquiry, and wo havo sold 3000 during tho past fortnightut full nmikct rates. We havo aloo placed sonio lines of full-mouthed crossbred ewes with 100 per cent of lambs, at from 13b 3d to 14a. Fat Lamba.—Theye are in request, and wo havo placed several lines for forward delivery at top rates. Fat Cattle,—We penned eight head, tho whole of which wore passed at auction, but they wore afterwards disposed of by private treaty. Wo quote prime beef at 23a to 21s per 100 lbs. Store Cattle,—Our entry was a small one. Wo wold a line of young cattle, ono to two years old, at 04s (id. Dairy cows aold up to L 5 ss. Pigs.—We penned 38 weanors, tho majority of which sold at from 7s 3d to 9s. Wheat.—Tho same stagnation prevail", and beyond an occasional line ot velvet there is nothing moving. We quote : Bcfet velvet and Tuscan, '2n 5d to 2s Gd; red chaff, 2a 4d, on trucks Oamaru, sacks extra. Whole fowl wheat is worth fiom 2a to 2s Id ; seconds, Is lOd to Is lid. Oatn.— Very little enquiry. Wo quoto: Danish and Tartaia, Is 2d to Is 3d ; short, Is 4d to Is sd, on trucks Oamaru, sacks extra. Potatoes.—Tho supply is still excessive Present valuo, 255, f.0.b,, sacks io, with (flight enquiry.

Mr Bruce Christie reports on the usual fortnightly sale at tho Junction Yards ay follows: X'here was a fair attendance of fanners and othersSheep.—A small ontry, all those yarded being shorn, with the exception of one pen of hoggets. Kat were a shade easier than last sale. Young wethers and maiden ewes suitable for topping off were enquired for, 2-tooths (shorn) fetching 9s 4d to 9s Gd. Cattle.—A medium entry. Several pens of fat not fetching owner*.* ideas of values were withdrawn. A fair number of stores wero yarded, which commanded lato piiceb. Thcro wa« a good ontry of dairy cows, which were in demand and sold at full market rates. PigSi—A large entry, principally weanors, which sold well at from 7s to Us Gel. Grain : Wheat.—There is no alteiation to report in this cereal. Good milling velvet is enquired lor, but holders do not care to accept prices offering, consequently southern millers are drawing their supplies from Victoria. Prime velvet is worth from 2s 5d to 2s Gd, sacks 4Jd, delivered at store; Tuscan, 2b 4d to 2a Gd, sacks 4|d ; fowls' wheat is scatce, and all offering is readily taken up at from In lOd to Is lid, delivered at store. Outs.—Prices remain the same. Prime short are worth up to Is 5d ; Tartarian and Danish, Is Id to 1b 3d, sacks 4£d, dolivoicd at store. Potatoes.— There is little or no demand. "Worth from 15s to 17s Gd per ton.

Messrs Homing and Hedley report that there was a good attendance at th<; Junction Yards yesterday. The cntiy of sheep was again a small one, and constated principally of shorn two-tooths and fat owes. Competition was good, and prices realised showed a slight improvement on the previous week. They yarded 179, and sold : On account of Mr Win. Mactttiley : 31 crossbred ewes, at <) f j Hd. On account of Mr Thomas M' Leay : 12 crossbred owes, at 10a 9d. On account of Mr John Kirton : 41 two-tooth ewes and wethers, at 9-1 4d. On account of Mr John ISieholßon : 2J fat crossbred ewes at 9s 2d. On account of Mr John Burge«s : 25 crosabrcd 2-tooth ewca and wethers at 9s Gd, (The foregoing were all shorn sheep). On account of Mr Noil M'Cowan: 49 small crossbred hoggets in the wool, at 9s Od. Of cattle there was an average ontry. The presence of one or two outside buyers led to Keener competition, and the prices realised wero very satisfactory. They yarded 51, and sold : On account of Mr John Nicholson : Fat cow, at L 7. On account of Mr H. Schluter : 3 steers in forward condition, at ,L 4 19s Gd each. On account of Mr James Findlay : 3 steers in forward condition, at L 5 5a Gd ; 2 2-year old steert), at L 2 14s each; 4 yearling do, at L 2 10s each; cow (back calver), at J,O 2s Gd ; store cow, at L 3 10s; 2 years old heifer, at L 3 ; G months old calf 30s, and calf at ha. On account of Mr Thomas King : 4 yearling steers, at hi 3s Gd each. On account of Mr Win, Kendall: 3 steers, in forward condition, at IS) 4s each ; yearling heifer, at LI 18s. On account oi Mr Wm.
