September A young man name I WillUm GUI, employed on the Hilloradon sta'ion, received injuries whilst burning scrub on Friday l»st, which resulted in his d<s-*th. Gill was hommod in between two fires in a gully, and could not escape. H* sought refugo it) a small excavation in tho ground cmsed by pig« rooting, and lay amidsb tho suffocating smoke whilo tho fl lines passed over one-half of his body. After tho danger was over, Gill mado his way to camp, and vras conveyed to Blenheim Hospital. One side of his body was very much injured, his arm burned almost to the bone, and his face disfigured. He died yesterday morning.
