REMEDIES FOR APPLE SCALE.
The following remedies were given by Mr Blackraoro during bis leobure : SUMMER REMEDY FOR DESTRUCTION OF OYSTER SHELL AI'PLI!) SCALE. Caustic Soda (98 por cenb), 10 pounds ; Pobaeh, 10 pounds ; Tallow, 40 pounds; llosin, 40 pounds. Direobions : Firsb disaolve bho potash and soda in ton gallons of water ; whon disaolvod, placo the whole ainounb iu a barrel (50 gallon measure) ; second, dissolve the tallow and rosin together ; whoa dissolved, add the eamo to the potash and soda in the barrel, and stir well for five minutes or so. Loavo standing for aboub two hours (ib is important that ib should stand two hours), then fill up wibh water, stirring well as evory bucket of water goes in. TJwo the following day ono pound to the gallon of water ; apply warm. WINTER REMEDY FOR DESTRUCTION OF
OYSTER SHELL SCALE. Lime, 25 pounds ; Sulphur, 20 pounds j Silt, 15 pounds. Dirocbions : Tako ton pounds of lime, bwenby pounds of sulphur, and twenty gallona of wator \ boil imbil tho sulphur is thoroughly dissolved, Take tho re* maining fifteen pounds of lime and fifteen pounds of salt, and when thoroughly slacked, mix togothor and add enough water to make in all sixty gallons of solution ; strain and spray warm. In the boiling an iron boiler hould be used nob a copper one, as bo solution molts the copper.
