Tho Now Zealandor Stornchasor, who is not near wound up, made a brilliant run in the opening ovont — tho Maiden Plato— and coming right friun tho rear, when Hearing tho post made a dead heat of it, the big son of Nordenfoldt—Crinoline finishing like a bulldog, and should run a groat horse for the bluo riband of tho V.lt.C. Hia splendid proportions wore generally admired, and it was nothing but want of condition that failed to get him homo in the run off. Considerable interest was, of course, centered in tho Caulfield Cup, for which tho straight-legged Bungebah held pride of position right up to tho start, and ho was at from 2to 1, G'Naroo, tho winner, was bicked heavily during tho evening, and left the paddock at sto 1. Owing to tho presence of welshcrs iv the paddock at the Caulfiold races yesterday % large number of backers of winning horses were lamenting. Tho ring was heavily struck over Gnaroo's victory in the Cup. Besides, he is coupled with almost cverythiug which is thought to have a show for the Melbourne Cup. Bungebah ran a great horse, but Gainsford made a blunder in attempting to get up on the inside a furlong from home, where the favorite made a tremendous run. Gatling also ran well. Stromboli, Highborn, and Bel Giorno did good work this morning, and Paytcn is con- : fitlent that tho former will show a reversion of the Guineas running.
