At a mooting of the Charitable Aid Board, the Chairman (Mr J. Robin) severely criticised Dr Macgregor's report in reference to the question of destitute ehildron, nnd tho other members agieed, Tho Chairman said ho saw no reason for Dr Macgregor's conclusion that a comprehensive system of supervision by the Education Department only is necessary to deal effectually with tho question. Experience did nob lead them to holievo that the management from Wellington was the best possible that could ba devised. Tie denied, so far as the local Board was concerned, the statements regarding parsimony influencing magistrates, or boarding out with undesirable persons A voto of thanks was passed to tho chairman, and it was resolved to send a copy to Dr Macgrogor and the Minister of Education, and to wait on tha Premier in reference to securing ft nhare in tho control of the Industrial School. ! October 16. The Rev. Mr Diggans, who a fovr months ago nccopted tho incumboncyof Roslyn, has receiv od an offer of a living in England, which he has accepted, and ho has sent in his resignation. Mr Petof Grant, Into of Gowrie, a wellknown Ta'ori farmer, died to-day.
