Mrs Maud Ballington Booth, Chief of the Salvation Army Stafl in America, recently performed the marriage ceremony between Staff Captain Ad» M»y Harris and Adjutant Wailice W. Wmohell. This is the first time on record that • woman has been known to tie the nuptial knot, bat the lotion is supported by the best legal advice in New sToik, on the ground that Mrß Booth in, by virtue of her poiition in the Army, which is now accepted as a regularly constituted reJigioua body, entitled to rank with the ministers of any other pereuailon, and u soch lolly authorised to baptiee, marry, or bury any one needing benefit of clergy in these reHpecti.
A party of vegetarians, who were bearding at a watercare establishment, while taking a walk in the fields were attaoked by a ball, which chased them farioaily out of bis paiture.
