Mr J. Pearson, of King street Area 'If, tlio woll-kuown cycling tourist, when riding over to Melbourne with his fiiond, Mr A. O. Chapman, relates several adventures tlioy met with on their journoy ; For four days after leaving Sydney terrible wot weuthcr was experienced, mid many of the water-couraes wfiro swollen bo •mich that they had great dillioulty mortalsng them. On one occasion they were compelled to j strip and carry their machines across, the current being bo strong that they were in imminent danger of boiug swept away. Although they wore for several days riding in wet clothes, no diro result* accrued, as on each evening after retiring they took the precaution to rub themselves down with St. Jacob's OiJ, which Mr Pearson always carlies with him on his tours, finding it a capital remedy for stiffucss and soreness of the nniboles, as well as a provontativo and euro for painful ailments iuduccd by cold. Numinous snakes were mot with on t ho journey. Ono monster, over Oft long, caused them some troublo, as in trying to avoid it the two cyclists collided, the result of which was a bruincd wrist nml a swollen ankle, but the application of the ever ready St Jacob's Oil prevented any bad effects.
