NORTH OTAGO AGRICULTURAL AND PASTORAL ASSOCIATION.

The annual meeting of the abovenamed Association was held in the Athenreura Hull on Saturday afternoon. There was a good atteudance, and Mr P. Aitchison, president, occupied the thair. Mr Church, secretary, having read the advertisement calling the meeting, the annual report, which was published in our columns on Saturday morning, was taken as read, Mr Church also read the balance-sheet, which showed a credit balance of L134 7s 8d, The report and balance-sheet were, on the motion of Mr Alex Murdoch, seconded by Mr J. B. Taylor, adopted. The President said he had to thank them for placing him in the position of President last year, and the committee for the harmonious way in which tli^v had carried out their duties. He pointed out that it was advisable for the meeting to appoint on the committee men occujjying responsible positions as breeders and growers of stock. They should endeavor i to secure these gentlemen in order to make their show still more successful. ! He also mentioned that but for the bad season he was to have initiated a scheme I for the paying oft of the debt, or at least ! reducing it ponsiderably. He, however, j viewing the bad harvest and the outlook of farmers' prospects for the present year as not good, would leave the matter in abeyance for the present. Mr Murdoch proposed that Mr Thomas Little be president for the year. Mr J. B. Taylor seconded the proposition, which was carried by acclamation, and the Presi-dent-elect took the chair. Messrs J. B. Taylor and R. A. Chaftey were nominated for vice-president. The candidates having retired, the show of hands resulted : Mr Taylor, 12 ; Mr Chaffey, 9. Mr J. B. Taylor was declared duly elected. Mr Hedley was re-elected treasurer. Messrs Montagu and Atkinson were reappointed auditors. The following gentlemen were appointed a committee for the year : Messrs P. Aitchisou (21), A. Murdoch (23), J. S. Holmes (22), Alex. Balfour (19), D, Borrie (19), J. M'Pherson (19), E. MenJove (19), C. Todd (19), J. Gemmell (19), T. Whirter (18), W. W. Dawson (18 ), James Reid (18), W. Meek (18), R. A. Chaffey (18), D. M'Gregor (18), AI. Morton (18/, J, Johnston (17), W, Sutherland (16), A. Isdale (10), Alex. Thomson (14), W. Stringer (14), Jasper Nicollu (15), G. R. Hislop (13), Thomas Hall (13), John Donaldson (lo), Thos, Stevenson (13). There were 41 nominations, and 24 forms the committee. Twenty-two were elected, and there were four ties for the two remaining vacancies. As the chairman lnd left the meeting to oatch the train, it was agreed to send the ties out for him to decide.
