When the wharf laborers wore proproceeding to unload the Pukaki they wero informed that it was intended the stevedore should discharge tho steamer in accordance with tho resolution pasied by tho laborers yesterday. The men therefore refused to work at all. in spito of the resolution at the mass meeting of wharf laborers to-night, their action wan disapproved by tho ollicors of tho union. In consequence- of this difficulty the steamship owners declined to discuss the new rules pub forward by the federation of scamon at the conference which was arranged with that object to-day, until they wero informed whether it was intended to support tho laborers, bub saying at tho s.uno time that they wero unable to give an undertaking not to support thorn. Tho conference thereupon adjourned until Moud.iy. The delegates from tho MarinoOfHcorsiuterviowod tho owners to-day to ascertain their intentions. Tho l.'ittor replied that they wero unable to consider tho proposals until they were assured the ollicors would not join tho Maritimo Council ; and also stipulating that the Melbourne ollicers should withdraw from the Council. A specie! mooting o f ollicers is called for Monday to consider the position. Adelaide, July 18.
