Wo clip tho following from a I lottoi 1 received from tho South Cantorbury Board of Education, dated April Bth, 1889: "Totheohiurmanof School Committeo, llalcatoramoa,— l linvo tho honor, by dirootion of the South Canterbury Board of Education, to acknowledge tho rocoipt of your letter, and in roply state that Mrs Emmitt failed at last oxamination to obtain her certificate, and to re» quest your committeo to bo good onough to advise tho Board- as to hor rotention or otherwise as pole teaohor at Ihkatora-moa.-Signed J. In answor to tho above tho following resolution wan passed by the Hakatoramea School Oommittoo : "That Mrs Emmitteo bo rebainod as solo toaoher at Huknteramoa until now school was erected. " Now this is what " Justice " trios to abuao tho model committeo for acting j uoon tho lottor received from the Board of Education. Now tho new school is eroded, what do tho Education Board do? They turn round and grant Mr« Emmett ' a license to teach for two years, knowing very woll it was tho dosiro of all tho householders in tho district to have a certificated teacher (tnalo preferred), j Now, if tho Education Board had kept good faith with tho Hakatoramoa School j Oommittoo they should have issuod Mrs j Emmottdue notice of hor dismissal throo months before tho now school was erected. What; is tho reason of this liconso ? A leading momber of tho Education Board i being a very intimato frioml of Mrs Emmett, or in other words a prompter. "Justice" states that tho committee have boon trying to got Mrs Emmott dismissed for no possiblo reason they can give, good or bad. Wo think the reason is vory onsily explained, namely, not qualified to hold tho position of teacher. Tho Ilukabovamea School Oommittoo, in answoring this part of "Justice's" letter, only hope that tho city fathers of Sandhurst will lift thoir able pens and answor Mio part which implicates them very scrongly, which wo hope they will do justice to.
