DUNEDIN MARKETS.

(»TTKLKOR«PH Dunedin, February 26. Fat Cattle — 252 head were yarded, ons third good to prime, the rest inediu n qu vlity, a considerable number no more th i.i three-parts fat. Competition was faiily active for prime quality, which realised prices about equal to last week. Inferior had losit attention, and were difficult to depose of except at lowar rates. Bent bulloulu brought L 7 2a 8d to L8 12» Od, extra heavy a stude more ; medium to good, L 5 10s to LO 15s ; light weights, L 3 10s to L 5 ss ; cow »•, L 2 17s 6if to L 6 7s 6d. Fiit Sneep.— 233 were penned, including 220 merino wethers, medium to good, th > balance crossbred, a large proportion ewes, representing all qualities, the wethers for ward being good to prime. A good domain! existed, and last week's prices were fulls maintained. Best crossbred wethers brought 11s 'id to 13s, one small pen (extra heavj * 14s 9d ; ordinary to good, 9s 3d to U.j: best do ewes, 10s 9d to 12s 3d ; extra heavy, 13» 9d ; inferior to medium, 7s Od to 10s 6d : merino wethers, 5s to 9s 6d. Grain.— Wheat: There is a considerable quantity being now put on the market, very little of which is considered prime quality ; but trade requirements not beiu^ vory pressing, millers are operating with reserve. There are buyers for shipment in the market, but being unable to go beyond certain limits, Tery little business is resulting. Small lots of fowls' wheat are beiu;; disposed of at about last week's rates. There are samples of the new crop now offei - ing, and we hear of an odd sale or two beiuy made, but transactions as yet are not extensive. We quote best, Tuscan, 2s 8d to 2« 9d ; best whit* velvet, 2s 6d to 2s 7d ; mod him to good, 2s 4d to 2s sd ; inferior to good fowls' wheat, Is 9d to 2s 3d (ex store). Medium-sized parcels could not be placed at the above ngures.— Oats: A moierately fair demand continues to be experienced, and any good lots offering fit for shipment are saleable at about equal to la*t wook's rates. There does not appear to b; any desire on the part of buyers to operate to any extent at over last week's quotations. Small retail lots would probably fetch a little more. The range at auction this week was for medium to prime bright oats, Is 2d to Is 5Jd (ex utore, sacks extra). Barley : Moderate demand. Prim*, 3s to 3» 3d ; medium, nominal. Potatoes.- Deliveries lately have been more on » level with requirements, and, in consequence, the market shows a firmer tone, although but little difference can be reported in value*. Quotations: For best, 60a to 655 ; medium to good, 45i to 55s per ton.
