The police have received information from Carterton that a child, aged eight yean, a daughter of W. H. King, was playing in the stubble of a paddock which was on fire, when her clothing caught fire, and she was dreadfully burned before assistance ceuld arrive. The Boilermakers' Union rote LlO to the locked out employees of the Wellington Woollen Company, and has made a levy of Is per week per member towards a permanent relief fund. They also decide to refrain from purchasing any goods of the company's manufacture.
