INVERCARGILL. January 30.
Mr H. M'Culloch, who retire* altar a quarter of a century's serrice as Resident Magistrate, has been presented with an address by the local Bar, Mr T. M. Macdonald, Crown Prosecutor, acting as spokesman, and bearing testimony to the ability, uprightness, and impartiality of the recipient. Judge Ward, whose duties as District Judge here haye been taken by Judge Rewson, was also the recipient of an address, which was duly acknowledged, his Honor remarking that the farewells and welcomes between him and the bar had been so frequent that they | might be said to hare exhausted the subject. The second series of wool sales to-day attracted a large attendance of foreign buyers, and the bidding for crossbred wools was spirited. Merino was neglected, but on the whole prices were equal to to those reported at the recent colonial sales. For strong wool top ralues were obtained ; light greasy crossbred showed a farthing toa half-penny better than last sale ; heary and irregular, a slight decline.
