WELLINGTON. January 29.
Lenore wu scratched to-day for the Wellington Cup. The managers of the art union held by the Foresters in connection with their Boxing Day sports are being proceeded against by the Colonial Secretary's Department for conducting the affair on the lines of a lottery instead of those of an art union, for which they had obtained a i permit. Six informations hare been laid ! against the secretary of the committee, three of them charging him with haring assisted in arranging a lottery, and others with selling tickets in conn action with the disposal of certain articles which do uot come within the scope of the license. Since the Wellington Jubilee Day no leas than throe old settlers who arrired rery early in the forties, hare died.
