The annual picaie and priz* distribution in oon'neotion wi'h the Moeraki School took place latt Friday afternoon. The chair wrb taken by Mr Culling, who proceeded, after a few suitable remarks, to distribute among the expecting youngsters

the handsome booka which had been provided by the Committee. These consisted of a gift for each child, acd were further snp^!< m=nted by special prizes given by the i ..< rto those who had acquitted themseivta beat at the Inspector's examination. An extra pvzs, furnished by Mr Simmons, was productive of some amusement, eg it was destined for the boy who had brhaved with the greatest kindneee and consideration to the girls during the ptat year. Of course "female suffrage" had to be called into requisition, and tbe successful candidate came forward wih blushing cheeka to receive his no doub-well-merited reward. After the distribution of the priz s, the children sang, and were then regaled with the buna aud lollies which form euoh n con&picuons feature of these festive gatherings. Rice were improvised for the obildren'e amusement, and after an exceedingly pleasant afternoon, tbe young people dispersed, bearing with them the prizes which will no doubt afford them many hours of pleasure when the more perishable lollies are sucked and forgotten.
