TASMANIAN MARKETS.

The Holad Mercury of the 13th met. reports as follows : Very little change in the markets has been noticeable duTins? the past week, A fair general business, for the present season ef the year, is being done, but sappliea of produce are necessarily scarce, and price* high, There have been no importations of wheat to any extent from outside sources, Dearly the only wheat in the market being that looally grown, for whioh a high prioe ia asked, namely, si3d to 5i 6d, sskles taking plaoe at tho latter price. The rice in the prioe of flour ie etill maintained, and from present proipeots, tho price ia not likely to fall for some tim^, unless the millers are able to obtain their euppllea of wheat at a cheaper rate than at present. Tht best milling wheat is not obtainab'e under 5s 6d. The qnotations from the mills remain without change, viz. : Flour, Ll2 uor ton wholesale, and Ll2 10s retail ; ihwpa, 16 10s to L 7; and bran, ls 21 to ls 31 per bushel. Siace last we ok feed oats have become firm, and are in g> oi local demand at from 2s 3d to 2a 6d, according to tbe p&mples supplied. Peas and beans remain firm at latu quotations. A rise is noticeable ia the price of hay, the demand for whioh is good. Best hay is readily saleable at from L 3 10i to L 4 5s per ton* Tho potato trade has been oarriod on rather brissly during tbe week, and the demmd and supply are about evenly balanced. There ia a very ready sale for eeed potatoes. The demand for other kinds is chiefly confined to the superior dosorlptiona. The quotations vary from L 3 lOi to L 4 per ton.
