OAMARU CRICKET CLUB.
Favorable weather was experienced on Saturday afternoon, when the opening match of the above club took place. It y will be Been by the small scores published below that many " knights of the willow " were evidently very much out of form. This may be acconnted for in no slight f degree by the treacherous nature of one < of the wickets, which all through the y afternoon played trioks with the ball. Grenfell in the innings of the Vice-presi-dent's side was particularly deadly on it, ! obtaining 9 wiokefcs at a cost of 12 runs. D. Howat also clean bowled three bats, men at this wicket for six runs. Walla ' obtained a like number of wickets for the same number of runs at the other wicket, bowling against the wind. None of the batsmen made any stand during the game, Church with 11, and Sumpter (not out) 7, being the highest scorers for their respective sides. This match will be ! continued next Saturday, when it is to be hoped a better wicket will be selected for the second innings of each side. Appended are tho scores made : phfsidest's s dp.
