Mr Thuraton, Colonial Secretary for Fiji, has been appointed Lieutenant.Governor of that colony. It is probable that Sir Arthur Slibank Haveloctc will be the next Governor of Fiji.

May 26. The steamer Stirling Castle, engaged by the British government as a war Cruiser, is now undergoing the necessary alterations at Malta. When completed it ia probable she will ba despatched to Australia.
