ROADS AT KUROW. TO THE EDITOR.

Sir, — There is only one solution of this difficulty that I can aae. That ia, to have a brrnch county conncil at Oteake, and Mr Shin* to be chairman, council, and engineer, I for one, as a ratepayer, object to cftrry coals from the main ro*d to Mr Walker's, end carry potatoes, grain, and other stuff back by way of top hamper, just to gratify Mr Shine's moat commendable Christian desire to keep roads closed, merely to save the ratepayers' money being squandered by (compared to the local article) an ignorant engineer. We, with Mr Shine, petitioned the council to open the roads, and now it seems that he did not quite mean all he petitioned for. No road along or through his own land must be touched. AH he wants is justice (to himself), and Deil tak the hinmoßt.

Mr Shine should rate the council soundly for their extravazance in keeping a boss-sub-engineer (I forget bis name) walking up and down the roads hereabouts with a long handled shoyel over his shoulder. About his ability to isork there can be no question, especially if it can be done by what is vulgarly called " jaw." The settlers, including Mr Shine, petitioned to have the road opened right round, and it must not be kept closed to gratify the feelings of one man— tcratch out the last four words and insert — overwhelming anxiety of Mr Shine to save the ratepayers' money.

Ratepayer.

THE BAD AND WORTHLESS are never imitated or counterfeited. This is especially tree of a family medicine, and it is positive proof that the remedy imitated is of the highest value. A« soon as it had been tested and proved by the whole world that Hop Bitters was the purest, best, and most valuable family medicine on eattb, many imitations sprung up and began to ste»l the notice? In waxch the press and the people of the country had expressed the merits of Jtt. 8., and in every way trying to induce suffering invalids to use ibeir staff instead, expecting to make mocey on the credit and good name of H. B. Many others started nostrums put up in similar style to H. 8., with variously devised namc3 in which the word "Hop" or "Hops" were used in a way to induce people to believe they were the same &* Hop Bitters. All Buch pretended remedies or cures, no matter what theur style or name ie, and especially those with the word " Hop "or " Hops " in their name, or in any way connected with them or their name, are imitations or counterfeits. Beware of them. Touoh none of them. Use nothing but genuine American Hop Bitters, with a cluster of green Hops on the white label, and ~Or Soule's name blown in the glass. Trust nothing else. Druggists and Chemists are /earned against dealing in imitations or counterfeits.

Wicked for Clergymen — " I believe it to be all wrong and even wicked for clergymen or other public men to be led into giv« ing testimonials to quack doctors or vile ttuffs called medicines, but when a really meritorious article is made up of common valuable remedies Known to all, and that all physicians use and t*ust in daily, we should freely commund it. I, therefore, cheerfully and heartily commend H p Bitters for the good have done me and my friends Qrmly believing they have no equal for family use I will not be without them." — Rev , Washington, D.C.U.S.A.
