UNITED ACTION AGAINST RABBITS.
When Mr Service epoke at the Albury banquet two years ago (says tbe Argus) he remarked that even the rabbits were fight", ing in their courses towards federation. He has been reminded of the circumstance by a letter from the acting Piemier of New South Wales, dated April 7, in which
it was suggested that New South Wall's, South Australia, Queensland, Tasmania, New Zealand, and Victoria should each contribute LIO,OOO to be given as a bonus to the discoverer of a specific for ridding those colonies of fe pe9ts, the offer to be published in Europe and America. In replying he has mentioned that the diffi. cnlty, in the opinion of the Minister of Lands, is being satisfactorily dealt with here, but has offered to assist the other colonies whose systems of lo^al government are inferior to ours, if a reasonable scheme can be arranged. To give L.60,000 for the specific would, he think?, be too much, although the money would be well spent if our lands were freed from the vermin. He has sought further information on the subject in a letter which has been sent to Sydney.
