At the city police court to-day, Sidney Knight was sentenced to two mouthb' hard labor for assaulting a Chinaman. The evidence disclosed a shocking state of immorality, the prisoner obliging hia wife to live with the Chinese. He is well connected in Eagland, and is understood to be a remittance man. His children appeared in court yesterday charged with theft.
A man named W. B, Stanley, while cleaning spouting on the roof of the City hotel, slipped and fell through a skylight, falling a distance of thirty-five feet on to the asphalt in the back yard, He is not expected to live.
