PUKEURI SCHOOL.

Tho committee of the Pukeuri school j having set apart a considerable sum for prizes, an examination of the children took place on Friday last. The upper classes were examined by Mr J. Hendry, 8.A., and the lower classes by the head ; whilst Mrs Dalzell, assisted by lady friends, kindly undertook to Weoide the prizes for sewing. Dennison, 1 ; Aleo Goodall, 2. sth Class : Isabella Goodall, 1; Joseph Boreham, 2. 4th Class : Frank M'Eneany, 1 ; John Watt, 2. 3rd Class : Mary Gray, 1 ; Win. Goodall, 2, 2nd Class : John Dennison, 1 ; Mary M'Eneany, 2. let Class : Jane Mattinson, 1 ; Wm. Dumbleton, 2. For writing.— 6th Class : John Gray, 1 ; Wm. Dennison, 2. sth Class : Met tie Thomson, 1 ; Kate Watt, 2. 4th Class : Frank M'Eneany, 1. 3rd Class: Mary Gray, 1 ; Mortimer O'Brien, 2. For sewing. — l«t Division : Sarah Ward, 1 ; Nettie Thomson, 2. 2nd J ivision : Annlo Holmes, 1 ; Jane M'Arley, 2. 3rd Division : Mary Gray, 1 ; Mary Quinnoy, 2, 4th Division : Jessie Robertson, 1 ; Margt. Besides these, many special prizes were kindly given for sewing by Mesdames Dalzell, Thomson, and Cagney. In the absence of the ohairratn, the prizes were handed to the successful ones by Mr Easton. The school was closed yesterday for harvest vacation, until March 5.
